1. Just because you know a trade or have experience in field does not mean you know how to start and run your own business.
2. If you have a vision or idea for a business, that's all it is a vision or idea until you convert it into working plan.
3. Even if youget someone to draw up working business plan for you it does not mean you will be able to execute it effectively.
4. Unless you have owned and run your own small business before even the best laid plans will not prepare you for the unexpected situations that will arise.
5. A Banker will only advise you from the Banks view, An accountant from theirs and so on, leaving you jumping around trying to understand the fragmented pieces of information.
6 Getting or having money the money to start your own business is the easiest part of it all.
7. Media Advertising is usually not the best way to bring in business.
8. It's best to be clued up on the various laws you will be subject to at some point or another (Labour, SARS, skills etc) so you don't make voidable, ignorant mistakes and don't need to pay someone else to handle it for you.
9. Cheap options give cheap results, be prepared to spend more to get better results, even if it means less somewhere else for a while.
10. Get a business consultant, Coach or Mentor to advise and guide you until you have learned and gained enough experience to carry on by yourself. Be humble and allow them to show you how, no matter if you think you know better.
